10 Gems Gained From Starting an Online Business

10 Gems Gained From Starting an Online Business

Starting an online business is not for everyone. However, here are 10 things you can expect to learn if you do. What you’ll gain, is not what you’re expecting.

You’ll probably learn more about yourself than you will about business and strangely enough, that’s what will help you really succeed.

In the digital marketing course, I did in my bid for starting an online business, 10 things really stuck out as being gems that will stick with me for the rest of my life.

Starting an Online Business, READY!

1. The Power of the Community

There are so many people out there with great ideas to succeed and equally so many failures. The path of the entrepreneur may be lonely and isolating but it doesn’t have to be.

Attaching yourself to a community of like-minded individuals is invaluable. Sure they can help you, but the true value is in your willingness to help others. It is self-motivating and empowering.

2. Having structure is key

Having energy, enthusiasm and a willingness to see your project through to the end is great. However, it’s grossly overestimated. The problem you’ll face is that your efforts won’t be constructive. This will eventually wear you out to the point where you increase the likelihood of giving up.

Having a daily structure that focuses your efforts to a point of progress, on a daily basis, will make the difference between you building something and building nothing.

3. Learning is where inspiration is born

I think in the back of many of our minds is what will we do when we run out of creativity, ideas, innovations, and so on. There seems to be a hopeless quest to have an endless supply of inspiration.

The answer to this problem, however, is simple. It’s called continuous learning. Keep on studying, never cease to be the eternal student. New ideas will achieve new connections in your mind and your inspiration will always be flowing.

4. The Power of Learn, Do & Teach

We all learn in different ways. But I have yet to come across a way that is more consistently powerful than the method of the following:

  • Learn
  • Do
  • Teach

These three little words will amplify your ability to grow. Take the topic, learn it. take what you’ve learned and practice it. Finally, take what you’ve learned and practiced and teach it to others.

Continuously do this and you will be an extremely effective learner.

5. Lead yourself, then others

Guy’s face up to reality. You can’t effectively lead anyone unless you can effectively lead yourself. You are your first follower and your greatest leader. If you can’t take control of your own life and abilities, you have little chance to influence others to do so.

You are all the person you need to become a great leader. Once you begin to lead yourself, others will follow.

6. Consistency is a Super-Power

Consistency can be seen in nature’s greatest forces. We see the effects of water carving through mountains, shaping cliff faces. We see the wind germinate our land. The sunshine brings light and life to our planet.

All of these things occur with the power of consistency. Being consistent is like plugging yourself into specific results. Never underestimate the power of daily actions applied consistently. It is the key to achievement.

Whatever you do, do it consistently. One day you’ll look back in amazement at what you have achieved.

7. The Power of the Journey

With so much emphasis on the destination, we can often forget about the journey to get there. We forget that the destination when we get there is just another part of another journey.

The journey is where learning and growth reside. It is the destination, it’s where everything happens and should be given the importance and respect that it deserves. Never lose sight of where you are, be present at the moment and unleash the power of your journey.

The journey is all you have, everything else is an illusion.

8. Don’t let a tragedy go to waste

In 2020, the entire world was introduced to COVID-19. The world reacted, mostly in fear and panic. However, these were not our only choices.

COVID-19 created space in our lives, it gave us a chance to refocus our efforts, to break the patterns that don’t serve us and to become better people.

For some people, myself included COVID-19, while being a tragedy was a gift as well.

I spent every single day dedicating myself to learning and building my business. Every day I moved forward, little by little I constructed my masterplan. My Shawshank Redemption. I tunneled my way to success.

9. Respect your own progress

It’s so easy to get lost in a lack of progress. Even worse it’s so easy to get lost in someone else’s progress and compare it to your own.

Guys snap out of it. Losers focus on winners, winners focus on winning.

Build the habit of celebrating your own success. Don’t belittle it. Progress is progress. Never forget that. If you’re starting an online business or any business, just put one foot in front of the other.

It doesn’t matter if you just take one step. That’s one step more than yesterday. It’s another part of the puzzle. Another stone in your castle. Recognize your achievements. Build on them. Learn to appreciate them.

10. I matter

I matter, you matter, everyone matters. No guys, this is not me getting sentimental. It’s a matter of fact.

When you start doing things and saying things, that have impacted you, the knock-on effect of this is that you realize you matter.

It’s a beautiful feeling that will truly impact you starting your online business.
