Over 2,000 People Visited my Blog. HERE’S HOW I DID IT

Starting a blog is easy. Getting people to visit your blog is a real challenge. Here’s how I went from zero to over 2000 unique visitors.

Granted I have experience in getting people to click from Facebook content to a website as I used to get 10,000+ visitors to my previous website every day.

However starting from scratch is still tough. Even for an experienced content producer like me.

Well the good news is, any one can do this.

Honestly I got these 2,000 unique visitors without much effort at all.

I’m not boasting. It’s not my style, but the above statement is the truth.

Over 2,000 People Visited my Blog

I posted content for my blog based on two key criteria:

1. Only when I had the extra time
2. and when I was inspired to

If those two criteria where not met, I didn’t post.

My main source of inspiration comes from reading books. Often as I read a book, there will be a moment that triggers me and inspires a blog post.

These blog posts than flow out of me. They practically type themselves.

I hear about people taking three days to write a blog post, some take several weeks.

For me, I usually write an entire blog post in about 1 to 2 hours. Add on time for editing and more often than not from start to publishing on Facebook the amount of time it would take me is about 2 to 5 hours maximum.

Currently I’m working on one very special blog post, which is ongoing and I just revisit it every time I get inspired to add a bit more. There is no deadline for this post. It may be finished next month or next year.

Things I didn’t pay attention to:

  • A content posting schedule
  • SEO
  • Analytics
  • Advertising
  • Marketing

At these early stages of content development, it should be all about having fun, being inspired, and experimenting with ideas.

Think of a blog like a new born baby. You don’t want to send the baby to college straight away. You want to nurture the baby, have fun and let the baby take on a life of their own.

My blog has taken on many forms. It’s being niche-focused, it’s being a diary and I’ve even thrown in a political article for good measure – Should Everyone Be Allowed to Vote?

My blog is all over the place and I love it. It’s a pure expression of me.

Although it’s fantastic when people click on my content, it’s not the end of the world if they don’t.

I often find what I’m writing is a way of me understanding my own thoughts better. Becoming clearer and getting more focused on what I want this blog to become.

Michelangelo’s David

Little by little the blog is taking shape. It really is like a sculpture with me being the sculptor.

Little by little I chip away at the piece of marble that is by blog.

My main source of traffic is Facebook.

From experience I know this is a mistake, but still a great place to begin.

Facebook traffic is often not targeted traffic. This means organically you get people clicking onto your content that are very unlikely going to become a customer.

Also if 99% of your traffic is coming from one source, you leave yourself very vulnerable to failure. If anything happens to that one source, you are screwed.

One of my first YouTube videos was dedicated to this exact issue:

Most of my LIKEs on my Facebook page have come from people I am already connected to on Facebook or connected by through someone else.

Facebook gives you the option to invite specific friends to like your Facebook page, so this is the fastest and easiest way to get your initial audience.

They are not there because they want what you have, but they are more there for moral support. And believe me I truly appreciate it.

You also never know, they could be interested in what you are doing, or they may mention it to someone who is.

As I grow in traffic, naturally my approach to producing content will become more systematic and strategic.

However for now I am incredibly happy with the progress I have made so far.

The future is looking bright and you can be sure there will be heaps more content coming from me.
