Raise Your Spirits During Lockdown – 6 Daily Actions for 30 Days

1. Be Grateful and Write it Down

Whether it’s one thing or 10 things. It really doesn’t matter. The fact is, we all have something to be grateful for and sometimes we just forget that.

Taking the simple action of writing it down can be the action that raises your mood ever so slightly.

The reason why being grateful is so powerful is because our minds are phenomenal at finding the things that we are conditioned to experience.

If you give yourself a conscious order to find something to be grateful for the mind will find more things to be grateful for. This is turn will lead to you being a happier person.

Make the habit and let the habit condition the mind.

2. Clothes, Clothes, Clothes, what the hell are you like?!?

If you haven’t worn it in the last 6 months and don’t plan on wearing it in the next 6 months. Do yourself a favor and declutter that monstrosity of wardrobe you have.

There are charities that will benefit from your pile of never-going to wear again clothes.

Do everyone a favor and get rid of that jacket you haven’t worn in 10 years. The shirt you never get fixed, the uncomfortable shoes and the line of other garments you absolutely have no intention of ever wearing ever again.

This simple practice, will give way to new energy in the form of new clothes and this will raise your spirits during lockdown. Order online. Everybody’s doing it!

3. Talk to a Stranger

Yes, I’m aware we’re in lockdown, but you’re not isolated in a maximum-security prison. You have countless opportunities for real-life interactions with people every day.

I know this one is a bit of a challenge. It takes guts. Especially if you are not of a friendly disposition. To be the first one to make the first move and initiate a conversation can be a tricky task for people.

But within the challenge lies the ability to raise your energy level and harness some more of that new energy that revitalises us.

Ask a question, make a comment, show them you are a human being.

Today I asked a man about his dog. Don’t ask me why, I just did. It was a positive exchange. I felt good after it. We both smiled and went on with our day.

It’s so simple and yet so effective.

4. Assess Your Career

This may be more relevant to some of you more than others. Some of you may be out of work and some of you may be in a job you hate. While others may be in a job they’re grateful for, and that’s great.

But look at your career. Is this something you want to do for the next 15, 20 or 30 years?

If it is than add it to your gratitude diary. If not, this may be the perfect time for you to start looking at options. Researching and taking action.

This will bring you down a different path than you are currently on and bring more of that new energy into your life which will raise your spirits during lockdown.

5. Assess Your Finances

Money is everything, that’s for sure, but money has an amazing ability to put us down and keep us down.

The most simple way to avoid this is to make sure you’re not spending more than you’re earning.

Sounds like a no brainer I know. However for many it’s a challenge that they can’t get on top of.

Get into the habit of tracking your expenses. Know when your coming close to the threshold of expenditure. Bring a level of awareness to your cashflow that you otherwise did not have.

This will make you more financially savvy and lead you to making better decisions for your finances, as well as opening you up to both money saving ideas and money making ideas.

This very simple act of keeping your expenses in check will completely change your attitude to money because it will put you in control.

6. Connect With People You Love

Nothing gives our life more purpose than remembering there are people out there worth living for and worth fighting for.

This encourages us to be our best, to be honourable and to do things with purpose.

These connections can easily be taken for granted, forgotten about and become completely diminished.

Nurture these connections like you are growing a plant and the plant will surely grow and become a strong tree of which you are sure to bear the fruits.

Next step is to get out a monthly calender planner or open up a google sheet, Microsoft word or excel and plan your month. These are just 6 actions you can take everyday to raise your spirits during lockdown.

You have nothing to lose and so much to gain.

Come back to me in 30 days and let me know what impact it had for you.

Until then, take care guys and see you on the next article.
